The pilot of a gyro copter was taken into custody when he landed his aircraft on the West Lawn of the U.S Capitol. The incident caused a temporary lockdown of the Capitol Visitor’s Center.

Capitol Police took the man into custody shortly after the incident.

The man’s motive and identity are not known at this time and the situation is currently under investigation.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.

Born and raised in the Southwest United States, an area blessed with over 300 days of sunshine per year, he is fortunate to have been in and around aviation his entire life.
