FighterSweep Staff 2 Comments Commercial Aviation, Military Aviation, Video

Fighter Sweep reported over the weekend about two F-15’s that broke the sound barrier on a high speed intercept of a civilian aircraft that entered restricted airspace near President Trump’s Florida home Mar-a-Lago. People on the ground were startled to hear the sonic boom as the Eagles flew over.

Sure we all love to hear the ‘boom’ when a jet breaks the sound barrier but how much do you really know about the subject? What exactly is the ‘barrier’ jets have to pass through and how was it discovered? What is Mach one and where did the name come from?

Answer these and more interesting questions by watching this three minute video explaining everything you need to know about breaking Mach and supersonic flight! Yes, there will be a test after so take notes!
