Both pilots were recovered and taken to Clinch Memorial Hospital in Homerville, Ga., for medical evaluation and have been released.

The aircraft crashed in a residential area and local emergency personnel are currently on scene. There are no reported injuries or damage to nearby structures. – Moody Air Force Base

The A-29s are designed for the close air support (CAS) mission and about 20 Afghan air force pilots have trained to fly eight of the A-29 Super Tucanos at Moody AFB.

Made by the Brazilian company Embraer S.A.,  there is a total of 20 aircraft to be delivered to Afghanistan by 2018 under a $427 million US funded contract.

For questions about the incident please contact Moody Air Force Base Public Affairs at 229-257-4146 or after duty hours at 229-257-3501.
