The Trump administration is not taking recent provocative actions by North Korea lightly. Just last week Fighter Sweep told you about the US sending its Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system to South Korea.

Now, MQ-1C Gray Eagle attack drones are being deployed to the region in a clear show of muscle from President Trump aimed at getting the attention of the North Koreans.

“The stationing of this company, which will be assigned to the 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade of the 2nd Infantry Division, directly supports the US Army’s strategic plan to add one Gray Eagle company to each division in the Army,” USFK said in a news release.
“The UAS adds significant intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capability to US Forces Korea and our ROK (Republic of Korea) partners.”
“The US and its regional partners see the importance of demonstrating that they also have the upper hand in conventional deterrence and readiness, and not just as a reaction to a full DPRK (Democratic Republic of Korea) attack,” Wallace told CNN in an email. – CNN

The Gray Eagle can carry up to four Hellfire missiles. A ‘company’ of Gray Eagles consists of nine unmanned aircraft, five ground control stations and 128 personnel. Cruising at speeds up to 150 knots, the MQ-1C can fly up to 25,000 feet and has a range of 2500 nautical miles.
