Watch Passenger Being Removed from the United Airlines Flight

United Airlines needed to transfer four of their flight crew to another location so they could fly the next day. The flight was full so they asked for volunteers to get off the plane and take another flight. Apparently, three passengers took United’s offer and left but the fourth passenger decided he was taking the flight no matter what and refused to leave the aircraft.

Police were called and the man was forcibly removed. The episode was filmed by other passengers and the video has gone viral around the entire world. United Airlines stock fell over 1% today in trading losing an estimate $255 million in market capitalization.

A United spokesperson confirmed in an email Sunday night that a passenger had been taken off a flight in Chicago.

“Flight 3411 from Chicago to Louisville was overbooked,” the spokesperson said. “After our team looked for volunteers, one customer refused to leave the aircraft voluntarily and law enforcement was asked to come to the gate.

“We apologize for the overbook situation. Further details on the removed customer should be directed to authorities.” – Courier-Journal
