The US Senate has approved confirmation of former congresswoman Heather Wilson to be the new Secretary of the Air Force in a 76-22 vote.

“I’m sure she’ll work hard in this new role to strengthen the branch of the military that she cares so much about,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said.

Wilson will be taking the helm of an Air Force that has struggled for years with constrained budgets due to caps passed by Congress. – Washington Examiner

Wilson, a graduate of the Air Force Academy served in the US House of Representatives from 1998 to 2009 representing the state of New Mexico. She will be the third woman to serve as Secretary of the Air Force.
