Watch: US Coast Guard Rescues Eight Boaters That Had Run Aground

The US Coast Guard rescued eight boaters that had run aground off the coast of South Carolina.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston Command Center watch-standers were notified at 2:40 a.m. via 911 dispatch that a center-console boat had run aground on a sandbar.

A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew launched and arrived on scene at 3:50 a.m. Rescue crews hoisted four boaters and transported them to Mount Pleasant Regional Airport. The rescue crew later returned to hoist the four remaining boaters.

All boaters were reported to be in good condition. – Defense Video Imagery (DVIDS)
