An air-cushioned landing craft approaches the USS Rushmore during Iron Fist 2018 off Southern California in the Pacific Ocean, Feb. 3, 2018. The annual amphibious training exercise aims to improve the abilities of the U.S. Marine Corps and the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force to plan, communicate and conduct combined operations at the platoon, company and battalion levels.
