It is being reported that around 2000 commercial flights in the US have been canceled due to major storm activity. Particularly hard hit are the airports surrounding New York City.
A massive storm hammering the Northeastern U.S. with rain and snow forced the cancellations Friday of hundreds of flights into and out of the region.
The East Coast was being hit with winds reaching 50 mph, and officials warned that Cape Cod, Massachusetts, could experience hurricane-strength winds of 80 mph to 90 mph. Snow was falling on upstate New York, and meteorologists forecast as much as 5 inches of snow from Rhode Island up to Boston.
Republican Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker activated 200 National Guard members to help with the storm.
“We’re expecting to see more severe flooding issues here than we did in the Jan. 4 storm,” when a Nor’easter lashed the region with heavy snow and rain, he said. – Fox News
